What is an independent financial adviser?

Independent describes the scope of products and providers the adviser can consider. It does not automatically mean the adviser is the best fit for every client.

What does independent mean?

MoneyHelper distinguishes independent advisers from restricted advisers. An independent adviser can consider relevant products from across the market rather than being limited to a narrower provider or product range.

Is independent always better?

No. Independence is an important scope question, but specialist experience, client fit, service and fees still matter.
