Is a 0.5% financial adviser fee good?

0.5% sits at the lower end of MoneyHelper's broad ongoing-advice range, but value still depends on the service behind it.

How does 0.5% compare?

MoneyHelper currently gives a broad typical range of 0.5% to 1% for ongoing pension and investment advice. A fee at 0.5% therefore sits at the lower end of that broad range, but it may still be expensive if the ongoing service is limited.

What should the service include?

Ask what planning, reviews, investment oversight and access to the adviser are included. The fee should be compared with recurring work rather than with another percentage in isolation.

Check for minimum fees and tiers

A quoted 0.5% may be subject to a minimum annual charge or apply only above certain asset levels. Ask for the actual pound cost for your portfolio.
