Guide · Advice process
How long does financial advice take?
There is no single timeline. A straightforward one-off need and a complex retirement or business-owner plan should not be expected to take the same amount of work.

Recommendation and implementationYou review the advice and decide whether to proceed.
What can make advice take longer?
Multiple pensions, old policies, guarantees, business interests, incomplete provider information and coordination with other professionals can all add time. Provider response times can also matter.
Faster is not always better
A strong advice process should be efficient, but speed should not come at the cost of understanding the recommendation. Be cautious if you feel pressured to act before the facts or costs are clear.
Ask for the expected process upfront
A firm should be able to explain its normal stages, what it needs from you and what could delay the case. That makes it much easier to compare service between advisers.
