When might advice add value?

Advice can be useful when retirement, tax wrappers, several accounts or a major lump sum need to be planned together. The case is weaker if the situation is simple and you are confident making decisions yourself.

What do common percentages mean?

0.5%£1,250 a year.
0.75%£1,875 a year.
1%£2,500 a year.
Initial adviceMay be charged separately and can use a different structure.

Is £250k a normal client size?

Ask whether the adviser regularly serves clients around this level. A service designed primarily for multimillion-pound clients may not be the best economic fit.

Do you need ongoing advice?

Compare the recurring work with the recurring fee. A one-off recommendation and an ongoing planning relationship are different purchases.
